Amenities

Distant Island’s hallmark is its several miles of deep, protected waterfront with direct access to Beaufort, Hilton Head, and the Atlantic Ocean. An extensive waterfront stroll takes you from the south end of the island---with its vistas clear to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic---around Flora’s Point and along the west side of the island. Our golden sunsets accented by families of dolphins breaking the glimmering water in Distant Island and Chowan Creeks make for a perfect ending to another beautiful day at your home.

Our tennis court set among towering pine trees provides the perfect “stadium” for that competitive set with friends and family.

Distant Island boasts 3 community docks from which you can enjoy a relaxing cocktail or launch your kayak. It’s all at your doorstep and accessible to everyone.

Access to our salt water creeks provides novices and professionals alike unlimited possibilities. In minutes you are in the intra-coastal waterways and then to the open ocean. Our deep water can accommodate the largest of sailboats and pleasure cruisers while our boat ramp and storage provides convenient launching for small craft. Kayaking our myriad waterways remains a relaxing way to enjoy our thousands of acres of marshes.

Try your green thumb at our neighborhood garden. The vibrant garden scene provides space for residents to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs as well as debate which heirloom tomatoes taste best in garden salads.

Whether its red drum, trout, or dorado, Distant Island’s waters provide it all. Cast your line from our docks or hop in your small boat and try your luck in what locals say is one of the best fishing holes in Beaufort County. Alternatively, plan your offshore fishing trip and go for dorado, mackerel, and even marlin.

While Distant Island doesn’t have its own golf course, over a half dozen beautiful courses are within 20 minutes of your doorstep. Further afield, the myriad courses on Hilton Head and around Charleston and Savannah will challenge even the scratch golfer.
