A Special Place

Above are photos of real residents and their homes and activities on Distant Island. The Village of Distant Island is by far the finest waterfront community in the entire Beaufort area. We're that special place defined by location, setting, and people, unequalled along the South Carolina coast.

   Only a short 10 minutes from Beaufort's historic downtown, we are within the city limits yet across our own private causeway, away from hustle and bustle. The Village of Distant Island is a place where children ride bicycles in our streets; crabbing and fishing off our docks is a commonplace; neighbors know each other by first names; holiday parades attract the entire community; and boating goes to an ever expanding world. 

   Within eyesight are nearby golf courses, the Intracoastal Waterway, and the Port Royal Sound entrance to the Atlantic Ocean. We are close to the beach at Hunting Island and to all that Hilton Head, Bluffton, Savannah, and Charleston offer.

   When you drive across our causeway you are in a world of your own where people love to gather in our village green, walk along our saltwater vistas, drop anchor during a sundown boat ride, get their hands dirty at our community garden, play a set of tennis, and live among beautiful homes and beautiful nature. We are a place apart yet a part of historic Beaufort.
